To compose a suave, heady and carnal scent, Antoine Lie found inspiration in the Chateau de Versailles' orangery and in the timeless strength of orange blossom, revered by perfumers as an iconic ingredient.
Fresh and spicy headnotes of cardamom, mandarin and saffron capture the senses.
Gradually, the warm and captivating heart notes are unveiled: the orange blossom absolute take centre stage, glorified by round and sensual facets, enhanced by the floral notes of iris and the incense smoky notes.
Strong and vibrant base notes of tonka bean, cedar and Guaiac wood leave an intensely addictive feeling on the skin.
"Orange blossom is the flower that has the widest emotional spectrum: at one end, it perfectly embodies childhood innocence; on the other, it is irrepressibly sensual. To me, it is the most universal flower, one that transcends all eras. Absolu is a powerful perfume: with textured and contrasting facets, it expresses the radiant and mesmerizing nature of the orange blossom", says Antoine Lie.
The perfume's symbolic reach is best expressed on the dark blue box: glorified with an illustration, it celebrates the Sun King's unconditional love of orange blossom - and the trend he started in Versailles. Designed by Clovis Retif and printed in hot gold, the illustration portrays Louis the XIVth's royal silhouette, his face covered with an orange blossom flower.
